Released in January 2003,  Anbe Sivam  is a Tamil comedy-drama starring Kamal Haasan and  Madhavan, directed by Sundar C. 

Stranded at an airport due to heavy floods, Nallasivam and Anbarasu are forced to share a journey using trains, buses, and walking. 

Arasu is selfish and pro-capitalism, while Nalla is a selfless Marxist fighting for low-wage factory labour's. 

Nalla recounts his tragic love story with Bala (Kiran Rathod), a capitalist's daughter, and a horrific bus accident that deformed his body and disabled his leg. 

Arasu discovers that the woman he is set to marry in Chennai is none other than Nalla's lost love, Bala. In the end, Nalla sacrifices his personal feelings to protect her happiness and ensures justice for the workers. 

Interesting Facts 

Upon its theatrical release during Pongal 2003, the movie bombed at the box office. Years later, through television re-runs and streaming platforms, it achieved legendary cult status. 

The initial travel-comedy bickering phase was loosely inspired by the American comedy film Planes, Trains and Automobiles. 

The screenplay and core story were written by Kamal Haasan himself, reflecting his personal humanist and leftist philosophies.
