Arepuda Adye Pathrade (ಅರೆಪುದ ಅಡ್ಡೇ ಪತ್ರಡ್ಡೇ) - South Indian ( Mangalore)

Ingredients for the Pathravade curry:

1. 3 tbsps Coriander seeds
2. 2 tsps Cummin seeds
3. 12 Red chillies
4. 1 tsp Mustard seeds
5. 1+1 medium Onion
6. 5 / 6 flakes Garlic
7. 2 1/2 cups Grated coconut
8. 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
9. salt to taste
10. marble size tamrind paste
11. ghee / oil

Method :

1. Roast the first four ingredients on a tawa. 
2. To roast onion/garlic/coconut add little oil on the tawa.
3. Grind all the above to a fine thick paste along with turmeric & tamrind. Rinse the grinder with 1/2 cup water & keep the masala water aside.
4. Now keep a cooking utensil on fire and heat 2 tbspns of ghee.
5. Add a finely chopped onion and fry until brown.
6. Add the thick ground masala and fry for a while. Add salt to taste.
7. Add to it the masala water, make it a flowing consistency.
8. Bring it to boil and add the pathravade pieces and cook covered for a while.
